DENGES

TWIN ROOM, VIEW OF PARK, LAKE AND THE ALPES
Room Denges is large and very bright. Through its huge windows, guests will have not only a beautiful view of the park, the lake and the Alps, but also of the surrounding landscape. The name Denges comes from the small village about 5km east of Morges. It is in reference to “l’Histoire du soldat" (The Soldier’s Tale) ; a theatrical work conceived by Igor Stravinsky in 1917, and written by Charles- Ferdinand Ramuz ; the renowned Lausanne-born author and close friend of the composer.

“L’Histoire du soldat” is read, played and danced by three actors / narrators and one or several dancers, accompanied by a septet of instruments. Based on a Russian folk tale drawn from the collection of Alexander Afanasyev called “The Runaway soldier and the Devil”, it tells the story of a soldier who returns from the war.
In reference to this theatrical work, the room allows a discreet view of the village of Denges.

“Between Denges and Denezy,
A soldier returns home …
He has fifteen days off
He’s been on the road for a long time…
Has walked, has walked a lot,
Can’t wait to get there
Because he walked a lot.”
