You often can hear : “Morges. Living a dream with a view of the Mont-Blanc”. And true to this saying, the medieval town of Morges – amidst the beautiful La Côte region at the foot of the Jura hills – offers an impressive view of the majestic, permanently snow-covered Mont-Blanc. But there is more. Practically at the giant mountain’s feet lies Lake Geneva, with its particularly well-kept waterfront promenade… lined with wonderfully blooming flowers and benches inviting strollers to rest and take in the sight. Or why not dip your toe in the cool water ?

The picturesque city of Morges is home to several historical, cultural and gastronomic curiosities… as well as many hidden spots, off the beaten track. Whilst there constantly reins a relaxing holiday atmosphere here, enterprising visitors are also well catered for. Shops, restaurants, bars and street cafes – together with multiple castles, museums, parks and gardens – all wait to be discovered. There even is a twice-weekly, widely popular market right in the center of town which is well worth a stroll through.

The municipality of Morges has some 15’000 inhabitants, with the city limit extending to the heights of the renowned La Côte vineyards. From there, visitors have an even more breathtaking view of the lake, the Alps and the Mont-Blanc. And with the vineyards well exposed to the sun, it is not surprising that many high-quality grape varieties grow here – including the popular Chasselas. A visit to one of the wineries for a tasting session is an absolute must.
