Thanks to the ideal location of La Maison d’Igor, you are just a stone’s throw away from Lac Léman. And there you’ll find the Club Nautique where you can equip yourself for a wide range of water-sports activities. For example, you have the option to rent a rowing- or pedal-boat, or – as an experienced “captain” – how about renting a motor boat ? Kayaks, canoes and paddleboards are also available. Or why not get acquainted with sailing, water skiing or wake-surfing – for which experienced instructors can be hired.
For less adventurous hotel guests, Morges is a popular starting point for a cruise on the lake with a historic steamboat operated by the Lake Geneva Shipping Company (CGN). Comfortably installed on one of the viewing decks, you can admire the beautiful La Côte region onboard ship. Round trips leave from the jetty several times during day.
Also worth a trip is the 500m long natural beach with its wide strip of sand in nearby Préverenges. There you can enjoy the clean water and the warm sun. Or you have the opportunity to rest on the lawn under shady trees. Different types of watercraft can also be rented there. Children will find a playground, while several barbecue grill areas are ready to accommodate worthy Master-Chefs . Préverenges is easily accessible from La Maison d’Igor. A 10-minute bike-ride is all it takes to get there.
By the way, Lac Léman – with it’s almost 350km2 (60%) being part of Switzerland (the rest belongs to France) – is by far the country’s largest lake. In- and outflow is the river Rhône. The lake is 73km long, 14km wide, and up to 310m deep. The water volume is calculated to be 89 billion liters and the surface elevation is 372m above sea level.
